I am currently expecting my first child, something which Ladyland Emma has been a constant sounding board and wellspring of information about, while I predictably fluctuate from extreme excitement to existential terror oh the joys! The options are often narrow, and cliched at best. You can love wearing makeup and dream of horses, while also being interested in building things, or running fast, or being really really great at maths. These posters, which Emma has beautifully designed, are our attempt to create decorative items for baby girls, which celebrate the awesomeness of being a woman-in-the-making, from ladies who are inspirations to us. We want young girls to aspire to be bold, to take risks, to be adventurous, to climb trees and to pursue their intellectual interests. We want to see young women empowered by women from fields as diverse as surfing, singing, design, literature, and a straight-up, bona fide cow girl! And for her, that meant be your own person. Be independent.
